The last show

What a fab last show. It was a bit self indulgent to be fair but fun. We would like to thank all who supported us during the last two weeks and we'll see you again in November.

Stay safe for now and look after yourselves...

Last show

It's our last show tonight and to celebrate the fact we will be ordering, eating and reviewing a curry supplied from one of the marsh's many curry establishments, live on air. I am thinking of something like a chicken balti with chips and Keimanan. Luvly Jubbly!

Also on the show we will be re-playing the sketches and karaoke stuff we've done. So tune in for Comedy George doing his very own interpretation of The Village People's YMCA, Dave Wimbles classic version of Handbags and Gladrags (at least that's what he says it is. Liz and I have our doubts) , Liz and myself MURDERING Summer Loving from Grease, and a new song which you will have to listen in tonight at 9 to find out. Plus a new song from Dave Wimble. Again, you will have to tune in tonight to find out what it is. Plus, hear about Liz and Myself's outing to Lydd Club Day where Liz had a tad too much festive alcohol!

Just to add a note, The RMFM crew are all decending on the Neptue, Dymchurch for their monthly jam night next Monday 29th where we will be Murdering The Three Dog Night's 'Joy To The World' and Edison Lighthouse's 'Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes' It would be great to have some support as we need all the suport we can get there..

Peace and love to you all

A very tired Liz here. Been a long weekend. Enjoyable though.

Me and Shax were DJing at the Ship Hotel, New Romney on Friday night. It was a little quiet to start with but the party really got going a bit later on - so I'd definitely suggest people going down there in future weeks.

I want to say hello to all the people we met who were requesting (and dancing to) lots of cheesy tunes! I took a few photos and will put them on various parts of the internet (maybe rmfm website, our facebook group and of course the blog) as soon as I can find the cable to connect my (new)phone to the pc.
Once the Ship closed I got Shax to drive me to get food - we went to Romney Grill in the avenue, I'd never been there before and was very pleasantly surprised. Firstly the entertainment was of the highest quality - drunk people trying to get free food, and hats from the workers is tres amusing.....especially if you're not drunk! And the food was good. Shax had chips and I had a chicken burger, which was much better than one I'd had a few weeks before from a different kebab house. So I will be visiting there again!

Then on Saturday night I was out on the town in Folkestone and had a blinding night! Lots of people were out and about including some friends I don't see very often, so much fun was had.....and there will be a fair few stories to tell about that night in our friendship circle for the next few weeks (at least).....but I won't go into it on here!

Back to radio shizzle - I'm just about to pick out some tunes for tuesdays show so if anyone's got anything they want played (not requests as such....more suggestions!) then please let me know (either message me on facey-b or leave a comment here) and I might add it to my playlist :P

Love you all loads

Just added some new pods for you. Just follow this link www.romneymarsh.fm/podcast.html The RHDR sketch makes me laugh even now and our version of Summer Lovin from Grease is a crease!!!! (did you see what I did there)? Have a listen and let us know what you think of them. Even if you say they're rubbish. We can take criticism. And rejection. We're well 'ard we are.

I was shattered on the show on Tue as I had been to the tennis at Eastbourne all day and drove back to Folkestone and then on down to the studios in New Romney. I arrived at 21-45 and was knackered when i got there but Liz rescued the proceedings as usual and in the end we managed to deliver another top two hours of comedy and blinding tunes. It's no wonder the show is the most popular on the station.

There you go, let's see how much trouble I can get into with THIS blog.........

Have a good weekend you leg-ends BYEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

I'm In Trouble

Apparently I'm in trouble for dissing the comedy night Liz dragged me to at The Village Hotel, Maidstone.

I apologise for any offence i have caused. The comedy night was actually very good and I chuckled a good deal myself. As i said on the first blog, comedy nights are not my favourite thing but I appreciate the effort that goes into them. The people who came for the comedy night enjoyed it and were very satified with the nights entertainment.

I hope everyone is fit and well and I look forward to joining Liz on the show tomorrow when i get back from the tennis at Eastbourne

Satisfying Sunday

Tonight Shax and I were in the world famous attic studios where we successfully completed two sketches of un-paralleled comedienic genius, and two karaoke tracks that we managed to slaughter even more than you would hear in the worst karaoke bar in the world! We fully intend to assult your ears with these on the forthcoming 'Liz and Shax Tuesday Mayhem' shows on 87.8 Romney Marsh FM.

So make sure you tune in to hear all about our trip to the RHDR and a well known Marsh event.

Shax is off to watch the girls play tennis (the perve) at Eastbourne on Tuesday and should be back in time for the show, but if not the show will go ahead as planned with him joining in when he gets back. So do do do do do tune in and give us a text or email (details on www.romneymarsh.fm).

Ciao for now

Liz's quiet saturday

A quiet saturday night in is not possible - especially when the drinking kicks off with a couple of glasses of pimms at a village fete at 2pm.

I decided to be very british and me and a couple of friends went to said fete, ended up spending about £10 on various things, including a tombola on which we won about 50p's worth of prizes - but it's all for charity so never mind....except of course that im skint and payday is another 2 and a half weeks away (I really must manage my money better). And as it was such a nice day we then went back to mine via tescos (and my friends houses and kfc) to pick up various alcohol and food in order to chill in my garden.

So now at 2am, I have just finished kicking everyone out of my house, packed the nintendo wii away (what is it with drunk people wanting to play on that thing - tho it was fun!) and am clearing up the last few empty bottles and cans. So it is now clear that a quiet one never really happend with my friends - just ask the neighbours who were (un)lucky enough to overhear our conversations.

Anyway, that is all i really have to blog about - nothing exciting. But I wasn't tired enough to go to sleep yet so needed something to do.

Make sure you all tune in to the show on tuesday (9 till 11pm). Not that we've got much planned yet. Probably should get onto that - though I did find some music earlier that I want to play. Oh, and I really will do the podcast from last weeks show tomorrow.

Friday afternoon show and Comedy night

The show was very enjoyable and I'll be podcasting Mr Wimbles in depth report of the Lydd Airport extension position in the next couple of days.

The comedy night was ok although I'm not a great fan of comedy clubs but Liz tempted me up to the Village Hotel Maidstone with the promise of free food which was duly served in the form of a Chicken burger with chips and Coleslaw. I had said that we would have a go in the swimming pool complex but forgot to take my swim stuff so that will have to wait until next time.

That's it really. I have posted a pic of the journey home.

Yesterdays show

Anyone who listened to the show yesterday would have heard the legend Comedy George appearing as this weeks Karaoke King! George performed YMCA, and as soon as I get a chance I will add his performance to the media player on the blog and the podcats section of the RMFM website. So keep an eye out for that. Also, a podcast of the show is on its way too, between Shax and myself we will be selecting the best bits from the show and uploading it so as you can listen again (god knows why) or listen for the first time if you missed it.

Tuesdays show also featured our trip to a new museum about dr syn (well sort of), lots of mayhem, and us trying to solve listeners problems. Which leads me on nicely to give you an update on the ongoing war between Mr W of the breakfast show and ourselves! I don't want to go into it in too much detail here, but let's just say Wimble stitched me up good and proper on his breakfast show this morning (it has been podcasted on rmfm if you want to listen), and although it was funny I am now looking to get my own back again! This might well happen on Friday afternoon when Me and Shax are standing in for Simon Collins. So make sure you tune in then too (between 3 and 5pm), regular listeners to our evening show should note that it won't be quite as rude as usual....well....

Oh, and if anyone is wondering what this picture is about - George is a right joker (as you are probably aware!) and likes to get up to mischief so when he climbed into a cardboard box in my dads shop the other day we quickly shut him in and taped it up! Not cruel at all i promise you, he enjoyed every second....right George???

New Sketch

We have finished the sketch for the show tomorrow. It's about Dr Syn. We will be playing it around 21-30 so tune in and find out what mischief we manage to get up to out on the Marsh.

Hope you're liking the Blogs. Liz and I are getting the hang of adding stuff to them now and will continue to do so as we get stuff out.

We hope you can all join us for the show tomorrow night.

Goodnight and sleep tight.

Liz's weekend so far!

Well it seems that I missed out on a good night at the Ship Hotel in New Romney! I can't believe I didn't get to see the fully monty - im devestated! I shall probably be going along to a RMFM boogie nigth soon - don't forget they are every friday...so get yourselves down there!

The reason I couldn't make it was that I went to a friends 18th at 'the bar below' in folkestone. I actually only meant to pop in for a little while - wish the bday boy well, buy him a drink, catch up with some people and be home by half 11 tucked up in bed to prepare myself for the rest of the busy party weekend. However, a few shorts and a shot of sambucca later I was heading to the priz. Big mistake. 3 hours and about £15 later I was stumbling out of a taxi into my house. I awoke on saturday morning to the sound of my mobile phone at about 8.30am and felt like I was about to die.

Anyway, a couple of hours, a shower and a few headache tablets later I was driving up the A20 to Sellinge festival with my friend Ellen. I won't go into details of my day as I want to talk about it on Tuesday's show - but the outcome is that I'm now home and am hangover free, but very tired as ended up staying in the campsite - where getting a good nights sleep is impossible! Was a very good night though!

Anyway, enough ramblings from me about my drunken antics (Romney Marsh FM encourages you to drink responsibly) though if you are interested in any more I will be giving a little review of the fest on tues' show.

Shax at The Ship

I did the RMFM disco at the Ship New Romney last night and would like to say Hi to some lovely people I met there. Jellybean, 'Nice smelly hair and neck' (don't ask), the Blonde with the long legs and their Posse who were out rockin it up. Also to the lads who did the, NEARLY, full monty You Can Keep Your Hat On. It was quality guys, especially the blonde tanned one. Not that I would you understand as I don't bat for that side but I can see how the ladies would. Good job Liz wasn't there. Also hi to the Bar Crew who were brilliant and did a great routine to Gina Gee's "Oo Ah Just A Little Bit". It had to be seen to be believed and while they served peeps as well. Quite brilliant.

This Tuesday on the show Liz and I thought we'd have a go at sorting peoples problems out. Now, we're not experts at anything but are willing to try to help people with whatever problems they have. These can be either physical or psychological. How hard can it be?. Therapists make big bucks for doing this stuff so Liz and I thought we'de have a go and for free. Now, we would like some problems before the show so we can do a bit of research so if you private message me on the facebook group or our twitter page, Liz and I will have a go at sorting your problems out for you.

Right, there's the dinner bell so I'm off now after which I am playing tennis. So I wish you all a brilliant weekend and I'll catch you on the airwaves on Tuesday at 9 in the evening.

Best Bits

Update for you all.

In case you missed any of the show on Tuesday I have now uploaded a couple of the best bits to the RMFM website. Follow this link and it will take you to the podcasts page. There you will find a host of recordings, including King of Karaoke David Wimble and mine and Shax's trip to The Romney Marsh Swing Night.

Once I get hold of a full recording of the show (Shax is supposed to be sorting it out....) I will podcast a few more bits.

That's all for now

p.s. oh, and a quick plug for Mr W's webpage as I've spent so much time and effort helping him get what he wants on there! Here it is

Liz's turn to talk about Dinner at the Ship Inn Dymchurch!

Hiya guys,

As you can see from Shax's previous blogs we went to the Ship Inn dymchurch last night for a meal before our radio show.
We were looked after fantastically by the staff - who were wonderful...very friendly and helpful.

The food was also brilliant. As you can see by the photos they stacked my chips up like jenga. Which we thought was very cute. My pudding was also amazing! All chocolate with more chocolate and some strawberry. Oh, and I had pinot grigio - which is my favourite wine. So I was all smiles :D and a little bit over-excited for our first radio show.

There is a more thorough review below courtesy of shax, who made notes throughout the meal (I wonder if he always does that) so please check that out. But I would certainly recommend the Ship Inn as a great place to go out for a meal on the Marsh. So a big thanks once again to Niko and all at the ship for having us along.

As for the show itself - It was quite a success (even if I say so myself). Apart from one slight technical issue which seemed to happen as soon as I sat in the chair (I did say I didn't want to press the buttons) it went swimmingly. Our Marsh Swing Club was enjoyed by all, and If you missed it I am going to try and upload it to the website as a podcast today. Will give you an update when it's done :)

Dinner at the Ship Inn and the first Show

I just did a massive blog and tried to edit it and it has disappeared GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Liz and I went to the Ship Inn Dymchurch to do a restaurant revue. It was brilliant. Check out their website for more details Liz had Posh Fish and Chips whilst I plummped for The Reverend Barham’s tender fresh breast of chicken baked with Italian Parma ham and Swiss Emmental cheese with a tangy tomato, pepper, red onion and garlic sauce, served with sauté potatoes and a rocket and tomato garnish. It was fantastic. we recommend it to everyone. For afters I had Cheesecake. For liz, Sweet as Syn, warm homemade rich chocolate fondant served with a white chocolate sauce, reflecting the wildly differing characters of Christopher Syn, whiter than white by day and rich dark and mysterious by night. The staff were fantastic as well. (see above) Natalie, Emma, Clair, Jess, Shane and Elaine. A big thanks to Niko and Rachel the proud proprietors. The Inn is themed on the Dr Synn character from the novels of Russell Thorndike.

The show went well with the karaoke king feature causing much amusment. It was of course our very own breakfast show's Mr.W. Liz had recorded his catastrophic version of Handbags & Gladrags at a recent open mic night on her phone. For those who missed it, I will get Liz to podcast it at www.romneymarsh.fm for all who want it. The spoof night out at Swinging On The Marsh also went well with our, obvious, acting skills widely recognised by our many listeners.

Liz and I look forward to shareing the airwaves with you all once again next week.

Over and Out for now. My bed is calling.
